The ELEDIA Research Center was honored to welcome Prof. Qammer ABBASI (University of Glasgow) for an inspiring IEEE AP-S Distinguished Lecture on “Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for Integrated Communication, Sensing, and Localisation“.
Prof. Abbasi’s seminar explored cutting-edge applications of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) in next-generation wireless networks. His work focuses on leveraging programmable metasurfaces to enhance communication, sensing, and localisation, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, low hardware complexity, and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) performance. From real-time health monitoring to smart indoor positioning, his research is paving the way for intelligent, sustainable 6G systems and integrated sensing and communication solutions.
